Good Names For Colleges

Limnos and Lesvos Lesvos

Consecrated to Hephaestus, god of metallurgy, Limnos old installations. The first form of democracy was actually born on this island, in the village of Poliochni, where excavations of the Italian Archaeological School of Athens have unearthed the remains of the Early Bronze Age (3000-2000 BC) a typical structure of Bouleuterion (place collection in the assembly of notables of the place) which is believed to constitute a sort of date of birth of democracy.

The island is slightly built and the feeling is that it is also sparsely populated, its economy from the induced drawing of military servitude. The position of Lemnos, in front of the Dardanelles, make a key site for control of trade since ancient times. Troy is right in front on the coast of Anatolia and the war sung by Homer was actually a key moment for the control of traffic by sea.

Its beaches are very nice and just behind the bathing facilities are still visible, fully operational, agricultural structures and farming. Famous, and really good, the wine produced on the island.
Tight integration between the rural economy, military, and now even tourism, but still discrete, thereby maintaining a certain charm as something that now it is hard to find, even in the Greek islands.

Here, Myrina, dominated by the imposing Venetian castle, the last crew arrives, Renzo and Anna, with whom we will spend some more time on the island and then tackle the stretch of sea to Lesbos.
And this last voyage was also the most satisfying of this part of the season. Wind carrier that has pushed for more than seven hours on the ten total, Fair Wind, on a calm sea, crossing vessels entering and exiting dall'Ellesponto, and having the good company of a group of dolphins.

The landing occurred on the north coast of Lesvos, in the village of Mithimna, or Molyvos, as it is called; a place still well preserved, protected from his castle of Renaissance and very well maintained in the balance of the old architecture, always recovered with wisdom and respect for the past.

The island of Lesvos is the third largest after el'Eubea Crete. To visit take a long time. In the few days left we started to have a complete overview, which showed us both the views of green forests and mountains within which the variety of the coastline with beaches and shelters to be used depending on the direction of the wind .

Fair Wind remains moored in the inner harbor of the capital of Mytilini, Lakis in the care of Markos and his son, until the arrival of the boys who continue to sail for three weeks in August.

For us, the appointment is the final week of the month when we meet to Mytilene with the new crew for the adventure that will bring Fair Wind up the Bosphorus and Istanbul
