Diagram Of A Verjiner

Skyros Sporades Western

Skiros remained as I remembered, wild and woodland in the north, and elegant in its picturesque Chora, still one of the most beautiful of the Aegean.

After a day on a motorbike around the island (that of Joseph and Vali lets you walk in the middle of the route), navigation proceeds towards the islands of the Sporades Ocidental. We land in
Patitiri, current capital of the Alonisoss after the earthquake in the 50s destroyed the old village perched on the inside.
The harbor is quiet, but there is always an annoying swell that puts a strain on mooring lines and bollards, at least until you learn to leave the premises leaving the berth, a true egg of Columbus: lascado a meter and more summits in the dock the boat completely relaxes and finds himself aboard the peace. After

Alonisoss and a step in the lonely quiet bay of Peristeri in the south of the same name, you can reach Skiathos, where Joseph and Vali land to return to Rome.

not miss the opportunity to spend a few days to visit, on foot and using a good bus service, within the island. To the west, next to the sandy beaches, passing through dense forests to reach the sea and provide shade and cool. Then from Evangelistria monastery, where wine and olive oil are good and convenient, it falls between olive groves and orchards, returning to the capital.

After beginning the exploration of other Skiathos Sporades, we should do it with friends, but friends who had had to give up to get the last minute.

Skopelos is called today, in its communication to the tourists, the period when he lived on the island to cast the film Mamma Mia. The beaches and bays, including those not affected by the film, or perhaps do not touch those, they are very beautiful and makes a stop at anchor bathrooms and pleasant night's sleep.

Port the capital, on the wrong side of the island, because in the northeast, where they come from the prevailing winds, however, is large and pleasant at this time then we found little wind.
The town is very beautiful and picturesque with its old houses almost always largely renovated with taste and its winding streets. Many are the churches and chapels, in the capital and throughout the island. To the northwest, the perched village of Glossa, a digression into buses and a gastronomic experience with a view.

navigation continues to the other islands. A prolonged stay in the pleasant bay Peristera and then on the east coast of Alonisoss near Steni Vala, from where you can reach by bus old country (Palio Chorio) left for the earthquake and now largely recovered from homes rose by Greeks and foreigners who prefer the quiet secluded beaches on the coast.

The exploration of the archipelago ends with a quiet night in the Bay riparatissima Panormitis Kiria on the island of Panagia, a stopping place for fishermen that their boats side by side in the evening to talk like a big village square.
